invoice or PO generator
I was just told "I'll pledge, send me an invoice." and someone else said "I just put it on my personal credit card and will submit an expense report, it is easier that way." I have a feeling I am going to hear this often.
Having worked in an accounting department, I can understand the problem: there needs to be a paper trail. 10 years ago it had to be physical paper that could be signed with a ball point pen and put in a file cabinet and later a box that gets taken to the archive room.
I think if there was an option "enter amount, email me invoice.pdf" it would result in more pledges that are currently too painful.

Hi Carl,
This is an excellent question and we are working on functionality to mail our donors a receipt once they donate. However, until we do my best suggestion is to use the receipt that paypal already sends you with describes the funds changing hands.
Best Regards,
Mark

Sounds like you missed what I am asking for: generate a document
before the pledge is made. Something that canbe printed, signed and
handed over to an accounting department to pay.
Paying first means there is a risk of it not being approved, so the
person who paid is out the cash. This will prevent many from pledging
because it is a risk. I want to remove that risk.
For now what I will have to do is mock something up in a word
processor and send that. The paypal receipt does not address this
problem at all.

Hi Carl,
This is a good idea, when you create the template would you mind sending it to me so that I can see what it looks like?
Thanks,
Mark
